Fairlight Beach (in suburb of Fairlight) is positioned about 20 minutes walking distance, west of the suburb Manly in Sydney (Australia).
Even though the main beach of Fairlight is really only visited by locals it can still get busy. However there is a little secret area within Fairlight Beach and it is this little private area / beach that I like to photograph at.
This hidden gem of a beach is a wonderful spot for a wedding ceremony, wedding bridal party photography or a family portrait.
The slide show below will help you find this cute little Sydney beach. Also included at the end of the slide show, are photographs taken at this exact spot.
Fairlight beach really is a magical spot within Sydney.
Hope you like it too.
Within North Sydney, there is a little area known as Lavender Bay. Over the years this small area of North Sydney, has become a favourite location for wedding photography and wedding ceremonies.
There are two Churches in Lavender Bay. Christ Church which is Anglican and St Francis Xavier with is Catholic.
For photography, a great spot is down by the water of Lavender Bay. The entrance into the park can be hard to find from Lavender Street (if it is your first visit). Also it is really important to know that many larger cars like limos will find it very hard to enter the park. If you are wanting your photography to be captured at Lavender Bay, I always highly recommend my couples tell their wedding car company, that we are going to Lavender Bay. Make sure they have checked out the entrance and small road leading down through the park, if they have not been there before!
I have put together a slide show of photographs captured at both Lavender Bay churches and photographs captured down by the water.
Usually I have only ever seen one or two other bridal parties down at Lavender Bay while I have been photographing. However I have to be honest and say the last time I was photographing a wedding at Lavender Bay, there would have been about eight other bridal parties having their photographs taken at the same time. Lavender Bay isn’t as secret as it used to be years ago but if you visit, you will understand why the word has gotten out.
Lavender Bay is a gorgeous spot for a wedding!
Well it isn’t the main Fairlight Beach that I am referring too. Even though the main Fairlight beach is really only visited by locals it can still get busy.
The beach I am referring too is only about 50 metres away from the main Fairlight beach area. It is hidden these days with long grass like plants and you need to walk over rocks to get there. For these reasons I have always had this beach to myself, even on a Saturday in the middle of summer!
This post will help you find this cute little Sydney beach. Also included is a slide show from a recent wedding. The photographs were taken at this exact location after the ceremony was held at the Norwegian Church in Fairlight.
This smaller beach in Fairlight would make a perfect, intimate location for a wedding ceremony.

There are many lovely spots throughout Sydney for wedding photography. Many spots though lovely for wedding photographs are extremely popular and hence crowded. Locations like ‘Mrs Macquaries Point’, ‘Observatory Hill’ and ‘Dawes Point Reserve’ in the city, can be so busy that it is not unusual to see five or more wedding bridal parties having their pictures taken at the same time (can get crowded).
Sydney has far more to offer in regards to photography locations than just the ‘normal’ locations that everyone goes too.
Want to know where these beautiful and secrete spots are?
My first post, on the series of secrete Sydney photography locations is about Chinamans Beach in suburb of Mosman.

Below my own youtube video shows how to get to the beach (remember I am not a videographer but a photographer so the footage is a little dodgy J ).
This is a top spot that few people even living in Sydney know about. Makes a wonderful spot for a wedding ceremony and or wedding photographs.
